Drug Interactions !!!

Sawadee Khrap

My God, do you have to watch out for drug interactions.  I have been fairly stable on my regime of drugs so far  – valsartan, Madiplot, aspirin, folic acid, Fish Oil, turmeric, black pepper, and Cialis.

Getting off the Plavix took most of the pain from my hips and I can finally walk again – but weak from no exercise  – I did increase the Turmeric to 1000mg daily to fight any inflammation – seems to be working.

but when I was told about having mild Glaucoma – they first prescribed some drops called Taflotan – a prostaglandin analog – one drop each eye in the evening.  I could put up with all the sided effects except the pain in my knees – yes, eye drops causing pain in my knees. amazing.  So now they switched to Alphagan – a Adrenergic agonists – knee pain gone and my vision seems clearer – but probably just from the drops moisture  – not the medicine itself..  This stuff supposedly can cause higher blood pressure so I just have to wait and see if it makes mine climb too high.   Both  lower the fluid in the eye reducing pressure but also can react with or against BP medicines – I.e. Valsartan – and one of the side effects (which I haven’t had before ) is pain in knees and joints.

I think that there was a reaction with the valsartan to cause the knee pain – anyway seems to be getting better so far on the new stuff – but I will be monitoring the BP more closely.  My home situation doesn’t help – stress is not a good thing to constantly have – need to clear this up fast and get back to a stress-free life or at lest the best I can do.

Looks like the family is broken up

Sawadee Khrap

Well it looks like the family has broken up – Pity, but the only way to really see if it will work is to start it and see how it proceeds.  I should have seen this earlier but I was blind to anything except it working. It seems we both have a different idea of what relationship, partner, or marriage means. Didn’t last long, but that’s for the best – it gets more painful the longer it goes on and promises are made and actions speak a different attitude.

I also am seriously considering moving back to Pattaya – I think I can tolerate the warmer weather now that my BP is back to normal  and single life there has more to offer – Chiang Mai is a bedroom community and doesn’t have the large single sites  – especially for gay – like Pattaya does and many articles I have been reading state that living near the sea has added health benefits.  What a relief to have the BP under control  – should make it easier to get back to a normal life.

Don’t forget your will

Sawadee Khrap

Mr. Durwood is on his deathbed and knows the end is near. His nurse, his wife, his daughter and 2 sons are with him.   He says to them:
“Paul, I want you to take the Shaughnessy houses.”
“Valerie, take the condos over in Coal Harbor and False Creek.”
“Mike, I want you to take the offices over in the City Centre.”
“Mildred, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings in Point Grey.”
The nurse is just blown away by all this and, as he slips away, she says “Mrs. Durwood, your husband must have been such a hard-working man to have accumulated all this property!”    Mildred replies, “Property?   The asshole had a paper route!”

CMU freshman Suthep Walk

Sawadee Khrap

Just got back from driving Team to CMU,  4 AM,  so he could get in position to greet the Freshmen on their annual walk to Wat Doi Suthep.  This is a 12 KM hike ( 8 miles).  Since he’s already a Bachelor Graduate,  he will be stationed somewhere along the path to assist the new students in their merit climb.  I hope to have some personal photos to post when he gets back tonight.Suthep walk

Off the Plavix – eye problems

Sawadee Khrap

Today I stopped taking the Plavix – I really think this is the culprit responsible for the pain I get in my hips and legs when walking – we will see.   Both my Cardiologist here and the Surgeon who put in the stents said it was ok to stop after 30 days  and it’s been 2 months so far.

I have heard some bad reports about Plavix and particularly when used in combination with aspirin.  Very bad for the heart – so I am glad to hear I can stop using it.  Having no heart problems just blockage in the renal arteries I guess I am not as susceptible to strokes or major blood clotting.

I was given 2 – Express SD Renal stents.  Stainless steel balloon expandable Non-drug-eluting peripheral stents.   In their literature they state 30 day for Plavix needed. In the past I had a reaction to “metals” and could not wear bracelets or rings for over 20 years with out mild allergic reactions.  However for the past 3-4 years this has not been a problem and it seems that the stents caused no problems either- at least not so far.  I wear 2 rings now with no side effects either.

So now I am down to taking:

Madiplot, Valsartan, baby aspirin, Folic acid – along with Cialis, Turmeric and black peppercorns.

BUT, lasts week I had a eye exam and they found I have started to develop Glaucoma in both eyes – so I am now started on “Taflotan”  – one drop each eye in the evening – hopefully this will control this problem. — getting to that age where everything is bucking up against the warranty and starting to fail.  Doctor tells me there could be side effects – could be he states ?  haha – red eyes and black around the area – we will see.   I do see a little bloodshot started but mild so far and haven’t noticed any darkling around the eyes – don’t want a clown appearance.

It never ends.

Mae Ya & Mae Klang Waterfalls

Sawadee Khrap

Today we went down to the base of Doi Inthanon in Chom Thong District for a morning drive and chance to get away.  Walked to each waterfall and got some photos but didn’t stay for along time – had to get back and get some house chores done.

Mae Klang WaterfallDSC01359-Edit

Both real beautiful falls but it’s been a dry, wet season and the rivers are real low  – last time I was here you could not approach the falls because of the high fear from the fast currents and possible flash floods. – but today everything seemed quite calm.  Nevertheless if was a good morning and luckily we got back before the overcast skies let loose any rain.

on the Nail

Sawadee Khrap

One morning, on his way out to check on the fields, the rancher says to his blond haired girlfriend Sue, “The Veterinarian is coming over to impregnate one of our cows today.  I drove a nail into the 2 by 4 just above the cow’s stall in the barn. Please show him where the cow is when he gets here, OK?”

A while later the Vet arrives and knocks on the front door. “I came to take care of the cow,” he says.  Sue takes him down to the barn and as they walk along the row of cows, Sue sees the nail and tells him, “This is the one right here.”

The man, assuming he is dealing with an airhead blonde, asks, “Tell me lady, I’m dying to know, how YOU  know that this is the right cow to be bred?”  “That’s simple”, she confidently explains, “By the nail that’s over its stall”.

Laughing rudely at her, the man says, “And what, pray tell, is the nail for”?  She turns to walk away and whispers over her shoulder, “I guess it’s to hang your pants on.”
