Beware – Things are not always what they seem

Thanks Kevin – Nice warning— If you visit Thailand, or for that matter any place, scams are always present.  But remember, giving is a act of the soul. Merit is not dependent on what happens to the gift, nor who the receiver is.  Giving is a internalized demonstration of faith that God will and does supply all we need.  We need not hoard, but can share our blessings.

New branch in Pattaya–Dentist of Jaipur

Sawadee Khrap

Thanks Jerry for the advance notice of the new branch of the “Dentist of Jaipur” dentistright here in Pattaya. For those of us on a strict income this could be a God-sent.  I have my account at Ocean Dental but if the Baht keeps climbing and the weak dollar – well I just won’t be able to keep throwing money away for such expensive luxuries.

Success, yet hardship – a Lisu story

Sawadee Khrap

Several years ago in Chiang Mai I met and employed as my house cleaner  “Ton”.  Actually his name is Asue Saeyang, he is Lisu, from Burma.   During the time he spent with me, he showed an interest in movie making and I sold him my Panasonic and stated teaching him about Sony Vegas and making videos.

After working for me for a couple of months, he met Ana (from UK)and they had a child,  “Lillie”.  They lived in Chiang Mai while he tried to get his Burmese papers in order to get his passport so they could get married.  That was in 2010.  Now in 2013 – Ana has gone to UK with Lillie and Asue will return to Burma again to try and get the passport settled and then rejoin his family in the UK.

I hope you’ll join your prayers with mine that they will get this mess settled and have their family together soon.

But to the success story – Asue is self taught, with a little help from CaptureAna and myself, he has mastered the art of movie making –

production, filming,  editing and publication. and has now published a full length 80 min.  movie.

Amazing !

Although it is narrated in the Lisu language and has no subtitles it will still hit a nerve no matter what nationality you are, the Lisu story of the prodigal son.  Check it out

M.M., Nn NI – A Mother’s Love, Lisu Movie with Lisu Songs

Congratulations Asue and continued success in your movie career –

Happy New Year 2013 Pattaya Fireworks

Sawadee Khrap

This is my first attempt at making a video using Photoshop and getting it on the blog.  Crude but shows the essentials. I’m not sure how to render for the web – also had to upload to YouTube using Microsoft Live Writer as a blog editor.  just guessed at the settings.

CaptureThe opening of the video was the local TV station’s coverage of the Bali High Port Celebration.  The festivities started on Christmas Eve and lasted till New Year Eve – tonight.  I just captured some footage from this evening – just before midnight and then the fireworks.

As I pan, you can see from Jontiem Beach area on the left to South Pattaya, right  – with Bali High in the middle having the largest display.    The screaming you hear in the background was the girls on the roof of our building enjoying the show – I stayed in my condo, safe from them and any mosquitoes.

It’s a hell of a lot more spectacular from the balcony than the video shows – so next year, plan on coming and see it in person, accompanied of course, by your favorite local young man – he and the show are waiting for you.
