Moving into our new digs, or actually a condo (11th floor – 1brm, 2 bath, lg kitchen, living room, 2 balcony’s) – renting for now just to see how we like it. I am using “WE” as Tasanai and I have reconciled our differences. Thanks God that’s over. But between senility, trying to get the web thing going, travel and culture differences I swear I work harder now in retirement than I did before.
We should be moving in next week, but I won’t consider it accomplished till we actually do – you know how things can rapidly change – I’ll wait till we are in to give the address out – but, it will really be nice to have a separate bedroom to escape to either of our entertaining goes on late. In addition there are several great advantages:
- 1. There are empty studios still in the complex that can be used by visiting guests for about 800 Baht or so – that’s $20 a night – complete privacy and spectacular views.
- 2. On the 15th floor is a private pool , actually for the penthouse area but we will be included – very seldom used, so it is almost like having our own.
Cable TV and ADSL for the internet. Right now we have very limited TV, everything in Thai – so I don’t understand anything – except BBC World and that gets very boring ,very fast. Getting off the dial-up for the internet will be heaven, right now it takes forever to do anything on the web and forget trying to down-load any files —— for that alone I really look forward to the new place.
Well I have to buy another TV (we gotta have a home entertainment center) , dishes, bathroom and housewares so I don’t plan on taking any trips in the near future, but I have a lot of pictures and tales from our excursions so far this year to tide me over. I’ll try to show you some of the “Unseen” places we’ve seen so far – I am sure your will like them.
And If I am peaking your interest about coming to Thailand, we are adding a new section – “Bird’s Tours” to the products we offer — he has some great tour packages in addition to specially designed private tours – please check them out. They should be listed in about a week.
Gotta ge ready to move
Normally I just put in posts about my travels in Thailand – but this time I have some bad news – Tasanai is no longer with us. We will miss him.
The web-site and store operations will be handled completely out of San Francisco while Theo is searching for a replacement to hire. The new “storefront” software should be installed and operating very soon. I understand that it will be initially limited to PayPal only transactions but should have full credit card capabilities within the next few months. In addition, he is also using this time to review your great suggestions and make the site easier to use.
Well, with the bad news out of the way, I try to get back to my retirement. I will be looking forward to some new excursions to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai’s “unseen” treasures and hope to have some pictures and posts to share.
Sunday – and the cyclone coming from Burma is going through Chiang Mai. Lots of rain – but not continuous, cooling and refreshing. With each clearing, the beautiful towering white clouds and deep blue sky really set Chiang Mai alive.
We’re also getting ready to celebrate:
” The Kingdom of Thailand celebrates Wan Chatramongkhol (Coronation Day) on Friday, May 5 which marks the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.“
Check out the full story from the Chiang Mai Mail.
The Kad Suan Kaew Shopping center is teaming with people – they have seminars, play areas for the kids, special booths for clothing sale items – The Hotel, we stay at, is booked. It’s amazing – supposed to be the ‘slow’ season and I’d swear there are more people here than last Nov-Dec at the height of the tourist season. The tourist from China are increasing every day – bus load after bus load get here – Looks like Chiang Mai is fast becoming a major Chinese playground too.
We received several emails with suggestions on how to improve the web-site. Excellent ideas we want to try. We are working on them now and should be making some great changes to the layout and theme. Thanks everyone for your input and help.
I’ll get back to you with some new pictures soon
Hi Sawasdee Khrap
Just playing around with Photoshop and made a attempt at a photo-merge. This is a view from our apt – facing Northwest, looking at Doi Suthep Temple – made from a spread of 4 photos to capture the whole scene. I am sorry that the Temple is hidden in the clouds, but the rest of the scene looked so pretty this morning I had to shoot it. I hope you enjoy and the enlargement shows how beautiful it is here. Temp is about 76F, and what a lovely day. I plan on going to get a massage this afternoon and then come back to work on the other pictures and videos we have made in the past few months.
I will be posting here regularly, I hope, at least I’ll try. All my post will be kept in the “Frank’s Blog” Category. Looking forward to your comments and suggestions. Please give me some ideas about what you would like to see or visit. I will really try to show you “Unseen” Thailand in my travels – cultural and historical sites that the normal tours do not visit, articles on village life and customs, exciting and beautiful places around Thailand that you could plan your next vacation to see.
We are really looking forward to having the Storefront Shopping Cart working too – having a terrible time getting one that will integrate into this site and offer the options needed to properly present our artist’s products. The makers of the new software have told us that the next version of the program will be available in about two weeks and has just what we are looking for – so we will just have to wait. I hope the wait is not wasted time – the lite version seems to work OK so lets pray it does what they say it will.
This is our new format – Please check it out and leave a comment or suggestion. Most of the pages have been completed and I hope you like them. We have not opened the site up to full traffic yet. We plan to publish to the search engines as soon as the “Store” portion is fully functional.
The store isn’t open yet because we had to change software – the cart we were using, or trying to use, wouldn’t handle our products correctly, so we are setting up a new one. Also searching for a special product was a real problem – seemed to take forever and was not a simple point and click. Hopeful the new cart will eliminate these problems.
Frank is getting ready to start posting his weekly travel logs here and has started to shut down his other blog — you can now find him here at:
Category – Frank’s Blog ——— see the Categories and Archive sections.
I will also begin posting more about Thailand, it’s culture, holidays, food and “Unseen” treasures. I hope you will like these and we need the comments to help the site grow *** please leave a comment and your suggestions *** of Thailand places or things you would like to know more about.

It’s New Year!!, Thai style! Here are some pictures from the festival outside our office here in Chiang Mai. It’s 107 F. but you really don’t mind the sweltering heat when your getting drenched. Wet, Wild and Wonderful – says the Bangkok Post.
This festival, which lasts from April 13th to the 15th is celebrated all across Thailand – but no where like here in the north. Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Lampang have events Wet,Wild, Wonderful…and parades every day. Be prepared to get drenched and have a lot of fun. Where we are located, several stages have been setup for dancing and music – the streets are full of people, loud music , water and traffic is at a stand still – there are kids in the back of trucks with 55 gal drums of water, soaking everyone who walks by.
Water guns, buckets of water & water canons are your only defense, everyone has one – join in the fun. Not a cloud in the sky, but today rivers of water are running down the curbs. You would swear we are in the middle of the monsoon season.
And did I mention the sweaters, tee shirts and pants – wet and showing every curve, quite a show. You need to be here – it’s fantastic. – Next time – plan your vacation in Thailand.
Welcome to AsianCoOp.com. This is our first post. So lets start blogging!
