NON-DUALISM

Most all religions teach DUALISM.,  they consider this world as Reality and some, but not all,  believe in a separate Spirit world or visits by aliens.   Most all Gnostic teachings lean toward a non-dualistic view but in all cases they try to justify,  what they still feel as this world expressing good and/or evil.    It wasn’t until I was introduced to “A Course in Miracles” that I began to consider if there was any truth in a full belief in non-dualism.

Non-Dualism, what does it mean?    I love the way the  ACIM states it:

“Nothing real can be threatened.   Nothing unreal exists.   Herein lies the Peace of God.

There’s only ONE REALITY – GOD, expressed HERE by many words – All, Truth, Love, Mind, Idea, Thought,  One, Elohim, everything else is but a denial of God’s presence or ONENESS and is an illusion or dream of Separation or the desire or belief in specialness and doesn’t really exist.

The author of the  ‘Course’ is purported to be Jesus, ‘Is this the same person as expressed in the Bible?’.    in the Bible,  Jesus, taught using the words and symbols of a Dualistic religion, BUT, did He express ‘NON’ Dualism?

Consider what  Jesus stated   “I and the Father are One”, “I AM”, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”.   “My Kingdom is not of this world,” and more specific in the Gospel of Thomas-# 3

“Rather, the kingdom is inside of you and outside of you.  When you come to know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will realize that you are the children of the living Father.  But if you do not come to know yourselves, then you exist in poverty, and you are poverty.”  and  #29

“If the flesh came into being because of the spirit, it is a wonder.  But if the spirit (came into being) because of the body, it is a wonder of wonders.  Yet I marvel at how this great wealth has taken up residence in this poverty.”

Jesus is the Light of TRUTH,  – He brings the illusion of this world to the Truth of the Non-Dualistic God. “Elohim”

God is ONE,  –  Father, Son and Holy Spirit – “The Elohim” is ONE  Another name for the Son is Christ – “The Son of the Living God”

Last night’s dream

Last night I had a lucid and reassuring dream – I was lost somewhere but when I looked up I saw a bus stop and knew it was the last stop on the route but also the bus that would take me back to where I had come from.   I watched it arrive and ran to catch the bus and asked the driver if it would take me back, he said yes but that it was a public bus and he would not hurry up or deviate from the set route..  I agreed and got on.  Then I woke up.

I don’t put a lot of stock in using dreams as oracles or considering them anything except dreams but after reading this morning’s, Oct 1st  ACIM  Lesson  # 275    I am amazed but calm and ready to ride, so to say.

God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

1. Let us today attend the Voice for God, which speaks an ancient lesson, no more true today than any other day. Yet has this day been chosen as the time when we will seek and hear and learn and understand. Join me in hearing. For the Voice for God tells us of things we cannot understand alone, nor learn apart. It is in this that all things are protected. And in this the healing of the Voice for God is found.

2. Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. I need be anxious over nothing. For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. The safety that I bring is given me. Father, Your Voice protects all things through me.

I  will  learn what Christ’s Forgiveness means.

What is “Christ”? Simple question- Simple answer

Matthew 16:16 “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the CHRIST, the SON of the living God.       17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, BUT MY FATHER which is in heaven.”

THINK ABOUT THAT –   The SON of the living God.  “ELOHIM”        Remember Genesis 1:27   “ So Elohim created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim created he him; male and female created he them.”

MAN WAS CREATED IN ELOHIM’S OWN IMAGE. In the Image and Likeness of God – “Spirit, One in the Elohim.”       Elohim is PLURAL, the “ALL” –  Seeing anything else is imagining but an ILLUSION, a dream or nightmare  of separation from the ALL – a tiny MAD idea in the mind of God’s Son.  Remember the story of the Prodigal Son.

The PHYSICAL world demands separation or specialness – only in the SPIRIT  world can  abstract or plurality exist and be realized as “ONE”.  As Jesus said “My Kingdom is not of this world.” and “in my Father’s house are many rooms and I go to make a place for you.”

My Lesson #271 says it all:

Christ’s is the vision I will use today.

1. Each day, each hour, every instant, I am choosing what I want to look upon, the sounds I want to hear, the witnesses to what I want to be the truth for me. Today I choose to look upon what Christ would have me see, to listen to God’s Voice, and seek the Witnesses to what is true in God’s creation. In Christ’s sight, the world and God’s creation meet, and as they come together all perception disappears. His kindly sight redeems the world from death, for nothing that He looks on but must live, remembering the Father and the Son; Creator and creation unified.

2. Father, Christ’s vision is the way to You. What He beholds invites Your memory to be restored to me. And this I choose, to be what I would look upon today.

“Father forgive them they know not what they do.”

What power lies in a judgment ????

What power lies in a judgment ?    ALL POWER – the power to obscure the Love of God.   This section from the “Course” states it so clearly:

ACIM Chapter 24, “The Goal of Specialness”, Section 1, “Specialness is a Substitute for Love”

“Love IS extension. To withhold the smallest gift is not to know love’s purpose. Love offers everything forever. Hold back but ONE belief, ONE offering, and love is gone, because you asked a substitute to take its place. And now must war, the SUBSTITUTE for peace, come with the one alternative that you CAN choose for love. Your CHOOSING it has given it ALL the reality it seems to have. Beliefs will never OPENLY attack each other, because conflicting outcomes ARE impossible. But an UNRECOGNIZED belief is a decision to war in secret, where the results of conflict are kept unknown and NEVER brought to reason, to be considered sensible or not.

And many senseless outcomes HAVE been reached, and meaningless decisions have been made and kept hidden, to become beliefs now GIVEN power to direct all subsequent decisions. Mistake you not the power of these hidden warriors to disrupt your peace. For it IS at their mercy while you decide to leave it there. The secret enemies of peace, your least decisions to choose attack instead of love, unrecognized and swift to challenge YOU to combat and to violence far more inclusive than you think, are there by your election. Do not deny their presence, nor their terrible results. All that can BE denied is their REALITY, but NOT their outcome.

All that is ever cherished as a hidden belief, to be defended though unrecognized, is FAITH IN SPECIALNESS. This takes many forms, but ALWAYS clashes with the reality of God’s creation, and with the grandeur which He gave His Son. What else COULD justify attack? For who could hate someone whose Self is his, and which He KNOWS? Only the special COULD have enemies, for they are different, and NOT the same. And difference of ANY kind imposes orders of reality, and a need to judge that cannot BE escaped.  What God created cannot be attacked, for there is nothing in the universe unlike itself.”

The Christian Religions (actually most religions) teach to become “ONE” with Christ (or God), in other words to accept Christ into their lives – BUT to do this, one must also recognize,  and see, that Christ must then be in everyone and everything else. Specialness cannot exist.  This is expressed in the main tenant of the “Course”.

“Nothing  real can be threatened.      Nothing unreal exists.     Herein lies the Peace of God.”

Forgiveness ends all suffering and loss.

“Forgiveness paints a picture of a world where suffering is over, loss becomes impossible and anger makes no sense. Attack is gone, and madness has an end. What suffering is now conceiv­able? What loss can be sustained? The world becomes a place of joy, abundance, charity and endless giving. It is now so like to Heaven that it quickly is transformed into the light that it reflects. And so the journey which the Son of God began has ended in the light from which he came.

Father, we would return our minds to You. We have betrayed them, held them in a vise of bitterness, and frightened them with thoughts of violence and death. Now would we rest again in You, as You created us.”

I was just discussing “walking in faith” with  Buddhist friend of mine…. different myths, cultures, language, experiences, BUT the TRUTH MUST BE true for ALL or it’s NOT the TRUTH.   Attachments or Judgments, is there a difference?  NOT REALY – learn to let them go.   Look for the TRUTH, which must be the same for both.   Lately I have been hearing a lot about the “666”  discussion.  In John 3, Jesus says:

“There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. In Google:   6 and 7 are presented as:

Is it coincidence or the commonality of TRUTH that both faiths or paths express the same underlying similarities    Although I haven’t studied the Buddhist Dhamma, I would love to hear, from  any reader, their take on the subjects.  Google search states:

“Buddhism says that there is one in many and many in one, but not that we are all one. We are individuals and each one of us is the whole of our own Universe in which all the others appear in as characters.”

Buddha dealt with the sufferings and attachments in this world, leaving enlightenment to the Enlightened,  whereas Jesus spoke of a personal “SPIRIT-ual” relationship.   As Jesus said “My Father’s mansion has many rooms and I go to make a place for you.”  Through the Blog I hope to delve deeper into these concepts.

Carry the Gospel, But first understand it.

I now see  and accept my function as ‘carrying the Gospel’, but I had to understand or ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE it first.  My theology or basis for life was fabricated on a pyramid of lies and misconceptions.   Judgments I had made and treasured as the truth, never to be brought to the LIGHT of God’s TRUTH.  As Jesus said “The truth WILL set you free”.  Today’s,  Sept. 1st,  lesson from ACIM is 245:

Your peace is with me, Father. I am safe.

1. Your peace surrounds me, Father. Where I go, Your peace goes there with me. It sheds its light on everyone I meet. I bring it to the desolate and lonely and afraid. I give Your peace to those who suffer pain, or grieve for loss, or think they are bereft of hope and happiness. Send them to me, my Father. Let me bring Your peace with me. For I would save Your Son, as is Your Will, that I may come to recognize my Self.

2. And so we go in peace. To all the world we give the message that we have received. And thus we come to hear the Voice for God, Who speaks to us as we relate His Word; Whose Love we recognize because we share the Word that He has given unto us.

And what is peace?, except the realization that fear, guilt, sacrifice, suffering and death are NOT the WILL of GOD nor the state of HIS CREATION. 

I also realize that “theologies” or myths of this world and its views need to be abandoned, and ‘come with a open mind’ to hear God and His Holy Spirit speak directly to me, makes complete and perfect sense.  EVERYTHING in this world , including its theologies, need to be first re-considered and then let go.

Father, help me to openly explain my journey to You, carrying the message, so that others struggling with similar experiences,  backgrounds, questions of faith, or fear or guilt, may find resolution for their issues and be open to Your LOVEING EMBRACE and ETERNAL PEACE.  In this world, where all theologies, beliefs, religions, saints and sinners, are but  symbols.    ALL symbols are just that “SYMBOLS”, each named for a fragment of THEIR REALITY, special and separate in their definition, thus apart from the ALL.   Your Peace is  ONENESS – I AM  AS GOD CREATED ME !.  God’s Sons are One, God is ONE – The ‘ELOHIM’. (Father-Son-Holy Spirit).

After spending all morning doing today’s previous posting I looked at the ACIM Lesson for today Aug 30 :

LESSON 243

Today I will judge nothing that occurs.

1. I will be honest with myself today. I will not think that I already know what must remain beyond my present grasp. I will not think I understand the whole from bits of my perception, which are all that I can see. Today I recognize that this is so. And so I am relieved of judgments that I cannot make. Thus do I free myself and what I look upon, to be in peace as God created us.

2. Father, today I leave creation free to be itself. I honor all its parts, in which I am included. We are one because each part contains Your mem­ory, and truth must shine in all of us as one.

And find it speaks for itself.

Consciousness or the Dreamer

“What is Consciousness? – a million-dollar question isn’t it?    In this video Sadhguru clears it out for us, looking at it from Mystic point of view, which puts in a different dimension which we have never heard from anyone.”.

BUT then consider the ‘MIND” of the Dreamer, isn’t this the absolute consciousness where all concepts originate and exist.  The MIND of Christ, One with God or dreaming of separation.  Neither can be explained with the symbols of this world, but both can be experienced here.    This is the ‘teachings’ of Jesus, The Gospel, The Good New.  “I have overcome the world.”

He, Sadhguru, does point out that the illusion of chemical induced experiences may appear to be mystical insight but nevertheless are still in the illusionary realm.  The soap bubble image is a great example of this idea.   And some great comments are posted too – well worth reading and meditating on.   I particularly like Blondie Kowalski’s posting:

“Experiencing yourself as boundless consciousness is what a baby feels all the time. Before you learn to distinguish between You and Objects, there is no subject and object and you are everywhere as pure consciousness. Since for babies there is no subject/object distinction there is also no Time, so you are also Now and Forever. Observe babies, they feel that they are the objects they look at, there is no subject/object duality in them at all, only bliss and instincts. It’s a profound illusion this, the illusion of mystical union with God and consciousness as source of creation. This experience of at-oneness lies at the root of everyone’s personality because we were all babies once, it’s like the carpet on which the furniture of your personality gets accumulated. Is that consciousness really God? I doubt it. Accessing this dimension gives you psychological wisdom in that you get to look at the structure of your personality from the deepest level inside yourself that is possible, almost like inverting yourself from the inside and out.”

I also doubt its God,  I think it’s the CHARACTER of the DREAM, intensely trying to identify itself as a SPECIAL and SEPARATE existence from the ALL.    ISN’T IT SO !

Haystack of lies

Here is a great talk on ‘PURPOSE’ by David Hoffmeister.   I particularly like the analogy of the needle in the haystack he spoke of early in the chat.

I pictured it as trying to find the TRUE purpose or TRUTH under a stack of ‘Judgments’ I have made and defend as ‘MY’ Truth or existence.    Thank God,  Jesus and the Holy Spirit,  is teaching me that this idea or concept of what I am is just that a ‘FALSE IMAGE or ILLUSION.’   I AM AS GOD CREATED ME.   But that implies that I am Spirit, the SON, one with God, in the Image and Likeness of my Father.   I do not exist apart from Him nor SPECIAL in any way from Him or ANY OF HIS SONS, we are all ONE. 

The straw is merely the judgments, desires to be separate or special,  or as the Buddhists say ‘attachments’ that is burying my true identity, function and purpose.    Forgiveness is the bringing to the surface these false conceptions and looking at the through the eyes of Christ and realizing they are not real. 

Christ, the true Son of God, THE DREAMER, imagining the dream or nightmare of separation and the peopled illusion of the projection of this world to prove it to Himself.  The “ELOHIM”, Father-Son-Holy Spirit, broken into fragments, each called by a name, a unique character  and ALONE.

Thanks be to God a path was provided out of this NIGHTMARE.

Emphasize the Middle Path

Lets look at what Google says about Buddhism and the middle path:

      1. What is the middle path of Buddhism?    The middle path generally refers to the avoidance of two extremes of practical life, namely, indulgence in sensual pleasures on the one hand and severe asceticism on the other. According to the religious biography, the Buddha was supposed to have lived a very comfortable and affluent life before renunciation.
      2. Why is the middle way important?     Buddhism teaches that it is this middle way between denial and self-indulgence that can help someone reach enlightenment. … Buddhism teaches that if people live in a moderate way, just like the Buddha did when he lived the middle way, this inequality will be reduced and the problems of poverty could be avoided.
      3. What are the 8 steps to nirvana?     Following the Noble Eightfold Path leads to liberation in the form of nirvana: (…) Just this noble eightfold path: right view, right aspiration, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration.
      4. What is walking the middle path?    To Walk the Middle Path means replacing “either-or” thinking with collaborative “both-and” thinking. … Too often, we make up our minds about how we feel about something using a black and white, all or nothing, decision-making construct.

      Although I personally try to follow my Master’s commands and the theology, myths and beliefs are different , isn’t this the same concept that Jesus taught ?   For example:

      “John 5:22 says that “the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.” Then 8:15 where Jesus says “I judge no man.” What does it mean that the Father has committed all judgment unto the Son?

      The passage in 8:15 comes in the context of Jesus’ teaching in the synagogue and his discussions with the Pharisees. Again, they are discussing judgment. Here, however, it is the judgment of the Pharisees. Jesus is admonishing them for judging according to human standards and says that “I pass judgment on no one.” In other words, he doesn’t use human standards to make judgments. The passage continues, “But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father who sent me.” (16) This is in accord with his previous statement of 5:22. He and the Father use divine standards for judgment, unlike the Pharisees who are quick to judge based on appearances or points of law.

      in the Gospel of Thomas  #102    Jesus says:  “Woe to them, the Pharisees, for they are like a dog sleeping in a cattle trough, for it neither eats nor [lets] the cattle eat.”

      And again this same concept is expressed in the Unity church teachings:

      PASSAGE: “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:18-19).
       
      COMMENT: “Earth” is the world of illusion in which we live. “Heaven” is the realm of consciousness in which we are eternally One with Spirit. Jesus is teaching us here—as he does throughout his ministry—that our life experience will express according to our faith. We “bind on earth” when we decide what we believe about this life experience—and that belief will become our full experience. If we believe in a dangerous world, we will experience a dangerous world. If we believe in an enemy trying to do us harm, that will be our experience. If, on the other hand, we “loose” ourselves from those negative beliefs and hold to the truth that there is One Presence and One Power, seeking always to express in and through us as our highest, greatest Good, that will be the life we experience. God—the Father in heaven, the Source of all that is—will express in our lives according to the beliefs we hold.  Blessings!    Rev. Ed

      Believing the lies

      All my life I can only think of how badly every religious belief failed me.  I did NOT once consider that I may have been interpreting them wrong or only taking what I wanted and leaving the important parts.  Through my greatest addiction, alcoholism, I found my greatest freedom or PATH.  A path to a true relationship with God, an EXPRENCE and not just a theory.  A path of SURENDER and PEACE. 

      A path that can only be recognized by being honest with  myself and WALKING IT.   And yet as I speak of experience I also feel it is my function to help others by explaining what I found I had to do.  I trust that I will stand back and let God lead the way to what I try to explain in this blog of my journey and understanding of walking that path .  A path where my outward world appears to change little but my inward world is turned up side down.

      I pray that some of it may resonate with you and help you determine your future path.  That what we have in common WE CAN SHARE and through it realize the ONENESS of God

      ‘WHO am I, my SELF’ and ‘The GREATEST LIE’

      This topic reminds me of ACIM Lesson 253:

      My Self is ruler of the universe.
      “It is impossible that anything should come to me unbidden by myself. Even in this world, it is I who rule my destiny. What happens is what I desire. What does not occur is what I do not want to happen. This must I accept. For thus am I led past this world to my creations, children of my will, in Heaven where my holy Self abides with them and Him Who has created me.

      You are the Self Whom You created Son, creating like Yourself and One with You. My Self, which rules the universe, is but Your Will in perfect union with my own, which can but offer glad assent to Yours, that it may be extended to Itself.”

      What would be the GREATEST LIE ?– or the GREATEST SIN ?    What but the belief we were NOT CREATED in the IMAGE AND LIKENESS of God  (Genesis 1,  perfect in  every respect) BUT rather MADE into a body (Genesis 2, corruptible) and rebelled (Genesis 3,  SPECIAL not ONE)  against God’s Will.  

      Against the ALL a part of the ALL rebelled, as if a drop from the ocean could declare itself the entire ocean or a ray of sunshine could believe it was the sun itself .    How foolish !

      IS’NT IT SO  !!!!

      Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”     ( John 8:44 )

      AND remember how He prayed for US:

      As Jesus prayed to the Father:
      “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.  ……….. ‘For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
      And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  ………..  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”   ( John 17:5  )

      Keep us from the evil one – SIN.   But what is SIN ?

      Sin is insanity. It is the means by which the mind is driven mad, and seeks to let illusions take the place of truth. And being mad, it sees illusions where the truth should be, and where it really is. Sin gave the body eyes, for what is there the sinless would behold? What need have they of sights or sounds or touch? What would they hear or reach to grasp? What would they sense at all?   To sense is not to know.   And truth can be but filled with knowledge, and with nothing else.

      The body is the instrument the mind made in its efforts to deceive itself. Its purpose is to strive. ………….  Sin is the home of all illusions, which but stand for things imagined, issuing from thoughts that are untrue. They are the “proof” that what has no reality is real. Sin “proves” God’s Son is evil; timelessness must have an end; eternal life must die. And God Himself has lost the Son He loves, with but corruption to complete Himself, His Will forever overcome by death, love slain by hate, and peace to be no more.

      A madman’s dreams are frightening, and sin appears indeed to terrify. And yet what sin perceives is but a childish game. The Son of God may play he has become a body, prey to evil and to guilt, with but a little life that ends in death. But all the while his Father shines on him, and loves him with an everlasting Love which his pretenses cannot change at all.    ( ACIM  workbook )

      Have faith and open your MIND,  to the Holy Spirit and the power of FORGIVNESS,  where all judgments can be see in the LIGHT of CHRIST and shine away the darkness.  Come HOME, Oh!  prodigal son, the Father but waits for your return.
