I’ll stop by over the weekend and get some photos too – Should be a great place to just relax and have a place to mingle earlier in the evening – I have always hated that Chiang Mai only had venues starting at 10 PM – Now I have a place to stop by and still be able to get home before 10:30   ha ha

Just a follow up on my new diet – I have never felt better and getting better each day – as I said earlier amazing.

Every day for lunch I have been going to Khun Churn Vegetarian Restaurant. There I met Khun Tum, Manager of the location, but didn’t realize till now that they were so big, 4 sites – Chiang Mai and BKK.  The CM site is at Soi 11, off Nimmanhaemin Road -  The photo above is the Owner, but I haven’t met him yet.  Wonderful food and extremely great prices. Check out some reviews.

Well it’s been 2 weeks since starting my new vegetarian diet – feel great, no acid reflux, no heartburn, most of all the pain I have been having in my legs and back has gone away – and a very clear head and overall great general feeling.   Amazing !!!!

3 weeks ago, I was having a bad reaction to the acid reflux drugs I have been taking for almost the past 4 or so years, also costing me over 2000 Baht a month for this crap.  That shit really began to give me problems and caused me to start having vertigo and other loss of control like my blood pressure would just drop, and worse of all – my dick dropped to the ground – so I stopped taking all of it – Miracid and any other versions of the same shit.  All drugs.  I still had acid reflux but it felt the same as when I get a bacterial infection from drinking bad water – so I thought I try Disento to see if it was just an infection – it worked.  I did.

Disento did the trick – I am also getting weekly massages from Pea and he is excellent – I am sure that the massage and diet have brought me to this wonderful stage.  No reflux, heartburn, everything returning to normal, everything is picking up so to say.

My diet now is that I eat nothing that has a ‘Mother’ – Beef, Pork, Chicken, Lamb, Seafood, Fish, etc..   Also cut down on oils, except olive oil that I use to make my stir fried rice with vegetables. Stopped anything cooked with palm oil, cheap and a favorite here in Thailand – Just vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains – but I do include some boiled eggs in my rice for flavor – but small amount.  And for 2 weeks – free of any problem. 

I think I got most of the bacterial from the water they use to make hot tea – tap in most cases because I think that they figure when they boil it is will be OK – not the case – So now I request ONLY bottled water be used and no problems.   I’m going to monitor another 2 –3 weeks and post my results.

Max told me about “Wit” and his Café, take the second Soi on the left past the Canal Road on Suthep Rd.  (See the map) .  It is hard to find and when I went there Sat it was still raining and so they were not open.  I did get to meet Wit and managed to take some quick shots.

It’s located in the front yard of the house and can be a little difficult to find.  I plan to go back and visit next Tuesday and see how the drinks are and what kind of customers he draws – students, students and more students – hopefully it won’t be raining .

Wit seems like a real neat guy and we will chat later and I’ll tell you more about the Café and him.  Maybe I can find some models there too.

A NEW gay bar has opened in Chiang Mai that needs our support – Owner Ton, 2^nd from left in staff picture, invites you to his small but “home like” bar and restrurant.

He has some great employees to serve you — left to right,  “M” , Ton Owner) , Nut, and Donut. 

 The staff also includes several other boys not shown in the photo – I took this at opening time 5PM so everyone was not there yet – typical busy time is about 9 PM.  They are located in a University area so have a lots of students stopping by.   In addition you can enjoy the great eye candy, who are walking in the neighborhood, while you have your drink.

So make sure and stop by to say hello and meet the staff.

I know they are anxious to meet you.

Mark says that there will be some “sunrises” – I can’t wait to see what that means – I asked him would it be some beautiful boys.

He just laughed and said that it would be hard to beat Nu – thanks Mark for the compliment, I know Nu appreciates it.

I think, Randie, his sister, will be the manager.  We meet both Mark and Randie at the last Expats meeting where they came as a new sponsor for the club.  I hope I have the spelling of her name right.

Yesterday, Friday night 3/6/09, we went to our friend Jim’s Birthday Party

And we had a wonderful time.  Great folks there and really great food at “Billy’s” place.

Room rates are very reasonable, food is excellent and within walking distance of the Night Bazaar and moat.

Well it was Opening Night at the Golden Ball Restaurant in Chiang Mai.  I posted the business card before and here are the images from this afternoon/evening.

Bon was busy setting up for the first customers so I really didn’t bother them – more pictures will follow when the full staff is there and the place is running smoothly. But here are the first shots:

 Here is Bon – a little nervous and really excited about getting started.  Here’s his menu – in Thai of course – I’ll get the English version soon.

Full training of the staff wasn’t possible – the final paperwork for the purchase was delayed and so this was a hurried opening  – but as they say the show must go on.

I feel like I’m coming down with a cold and I have to do another shoot at the Temple tomorrow morning at 6 AM – soooooo I’m gona take my Thera-Flu and go to bed.  It’s 9 PM now – hope I can sleep.

Now lets talk about Chiang Rai “Beach”:

The water front area is lined with vendor food stands  – here are some shots ( No names are used  – just candid shots) but aren’t these some beautiful people:

We stopped for lunch here and watched the vendor next door build the bamboo constructed eating area over the water’s edge – both his sons were helping out – and then were treated to a diving show put on by some boys on the other side to us. — what a great lucheon show.

In the next picture you can see where they were building the new sitting area.  Sorry Tasanai was cut out of the image– you can just see his hair in the left of the picture.  Jerry and Art in the foreground.

Tas and Art had “Spicy Dancing Shrimp Salad” – live shrimp in a pot with spices – the spices cook the shrimp but they still jump when you open the bowl lid so they call them “dancing” – ha ha.  Jerry and I passed on this one.

Here are some images from Tao-Garden Health Spa & Resort in Doi Saket, Chiang Mai.  I really liked the massage, lunch and just simply relaxing and walking around the grounds. When you come to Chiang Mai be sure a reserve sufficient time to visit the Resort – just visit or better yet get a massage – they offer a full menu of services.  But now the pictures, enjoy:

Tao Garden 

We just got back from a great dinner at a new restaurant in Chiang Mai.  The “Spirit House”  Owners, Wanchai & Steve just opened it and we went there tonight for dinner.  The Spirit House is a garden restaurant that surrounds a ancient Chedi.  The bar area has classical music, antiques and a art gallery.  Entertainment consists of classical concerts, opera and ballet DVD’s.  They fly the rainbow flag and have sufficient space for large parties.

We had several dishes, steamed rice, pork & kale, sweet and sour chicken, asparagus with shrimp, shrimp cocktail and Thai salad with soft drinks – total bill  450 Baht = $11 US   Not bad for a full dinner for two – excellent taste, no MSG (that’s my real dread in most of the local shops), and large servings so we couldn’t eat it all and had to leave a lot  – too much for us.

When you come to Chiang Mai be sure and stop by.   They are going to have a web site in the near future and I will put a link to it here on our blog.

We are planning on visiting more local venues and report about them in the blog – I would want to develop a list of the best places to eat, stay and find entertainment in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and surrounding area and post it here so when someone comes for a visit they will be assured that they will fully enjoy themselves without the worry of being ripped off.

We’ll cover more spots as time permits.
